- Majeed Al-Barghouthi is a Palestinian poet, writer and editor. He was born in Lydda, Palestine in August 1947. In that year of his birth, which preceded the creation of the Zionist state of Israel (in 1948), he was displaced with his family and thousands of Palestinians by the zionist forces. He moved with the family to his native village of Deir Ghassaneh ( near Ramallah), then to many towns and cities in the West Bank ( Palestine) and Jordan. He got a scholarship and studied English Lirerature at Jordan University. He taught English in Jordan and Kuwait and developed his career in the fields of press, public relations, translation, editing and web-content editing in Qatar and Jordan. He wrote and published poems in Arabic and English and translated and edited many literary and political articles and books.

I met her on my way to Madame Tussauds.
A smiling face with waxy looks
* “Are you Spanish?” I asked,
- “I am an open-minded girl,
With no political convictions” she said.
* “Are you Danish?”
- “A Jew, an American Jew,
And you?”
* “I am Palestinian, an Arab Palestinian
From Palestine”.
- “And where is that?”
* “An Arab land between the River Jordan
And the Mediterranean”.
- “How far is it from Israel?”
* "What a question!
Fifty years Greenwich Mean Time!
And zero seconds my time!”

Earth is the best place to live in
And Palestine is the best of all places.
The Palestinians and the Jews agree
And behave on this basis!

Earth is a spherical dice
With wavy lines and bloody dots.
It could have been a paradise,
But it’s full of many buts!

- The Fall of Rumsfeld
The higher and harder you are,
The more painful is your fall;
I do not mean Rumsfeld,
I mean the Administration as a whole.
An Apache was brought down,
In a field full of folk and fire;
I do not mean an Apache,
I mean the US Empire.
Sweet words of freedom and democracy,
Can make blood boil;
I do not mean excitement,
I mean exchanging blood for oil.
You do not know me very well,
With spies and military might;
I do not mean you are ignorant,
I mean knowing wrong from right.
Invade, and back invaders of, our land,
You end up without a shield;
I do not mean you lack strategy,
I mean you are in the wrong battlefield.
This is the land of freedom fighters,
This is not the Middle East;
I do not mean maps and road maps,
I mean you'll lose many wars at least.
The world will remain in trouble,
If the US remains the same;
I do not mean US arrogance,
I mean arrogance mixed with shame.
You forgot justice.
You forgot beauty.
I do not mean you had Alzheimer;
I mean deeds while on duty.
